Looking for a Newsletter Editor

We need a volunteer to put together our newsletters. Articles are provided to the editor for newsletter production. You will need to have access to a computer and email. Please contact Dick Thomas or Sandy Webb, if you can help out.

Be Bear Aware

There have been many sightings of bears reported by cottagers on both Loon & Turtle Lakes, in the past few weeks. The Ministry of Natural resources is urging cottagers to be "bear aware" and to work together to avoid attracting bears. On our cottage roads, there have been many instances of littered garbage and this is attracting the bears. The littering could be prevented if you or guests would take the garbage to the dump or if you are using the garbage pick-up it should be put out on the morning of collection (Wednesday) - not on Sunday night. Also, consider rinsing containers before disposal and recycling. Additional information is available through MNR either by calling at 705 687-8747 or visiting their website - www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/bears
See: Facts About Black Bears, How to Prevent Nuisance Bear Problems, etc.
